Head of Front End Engineering

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on technical leader to lead front development
for a complex large-scale enterprise web application. The role will involve taking complete
ownership of delivery for the Front End engineering team as well as management of the
team. This would be ideal for a very hands-on engineering manager with relevant
experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Guide, coach and oversee a team on architecture, implementation, delivery and best practices for front end projects
  • Manage a team of developers, mentor and help them grow in their skills
  • Plan and execute business critical projects through agile process. Identify and implement process improvements
  • Foster technical decision making, make final decisions aligned to business requirements. Must think strategically and act tactically
  • Stay in touch with current and emerging technologies and frameworks for front end

Desired candidate profile

  • Bachelors/ Masters in Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering
  • Experience and understanding of building front ends for large scale and complex multi-site enterprise web applications that are able to manage and render real-time data from 100K+ concurrent IoT devices.
  • Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, Javascript, various Javascript frameworks and libraries for front end development and testing.
  • Highly desirable: strong understanding of UI/UX design, experience of working with good designers is a must
  • Thorough understanding of nuances of web-browsers and optimization
  • Experience of building full stack web applications is desired, particularly awareness about backend frameworks, tools, architectures and REST APIs
  • Must have understanding of web application security
  • Working knowledge of DevOps for complex web applications, familiarity with relevant AWS, Azure services
  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical leadership role that involved taking ownership of requirements, working with product and design teams is a must
  • 3+ years’ experience as Engineering Manager or similar is a must
  • Excellent communicator, with strong customer focus, driven with sense of empathy, ownership and urgency
